Sponsr.Us is at an interesting crossroad right now. We’re registered as a non-profit corporation in Massachusetts, but not yet a 501(c)(3) tax exempt entity. So we can start taking action as a non-profit, but not really taking donations, yet. We’ve completed significant sections of our web platform, but not yet the social donations part (we haven’t completely decided the direction of that). Sponsr.Us hasn’t actually done too much outwardly, but tons of time has been spent by our team planning, designing, and communicating with each other.
So where exactly are we? I’m happy to say, Sponsr.Us is basically ready to go out and start seeking the projects we feel we want to work with. We’ll only start out with a few number in a limited geographic area. This is because we want to make sure this works out. Plus, we’re all new at this, so small is good. Our team has a plan that we’re just about to launch into so stayed tuned.
We’re opening up people to start joining our mentorship network now. These are those people who are willing to volunteer their time and efforts to help make Sponsr.Us projects realities and the best they can be. If that might be you, send an email to mentors[at]sponsr.us. We would love your help!
As we complete Form 1023 with the help of Foley & Lardner (big thanks to them!) and submit it, the members of Sponsr.Us will also be headed back to school. Some things will be on backburner (particularly web development), but some things we’ll be able to really begin on. Since students will soon all be in school, it’ll be easier to reach out to them and their teachers. Plus, we’ll be able to get lots of feedback from our peers on what we’re doing. Sponsr.Us is hoping to start working with initiatives by the end of this year.
Excited? Yeah we are! A bit anxious? Sure, particularly about the uncertainty, but that sure isn’t stopping us. In fact, in some ways that uncertainty fuels our motivation to make this a major success.
Join our network. If not, stick around and watch the updates — a good audience is appreciated. Inform your colleagues, peers, friends, and family about Sponsr.Us — it’s going to be awesome!
Cheers!
